Agile testing is no longer “testing at the end”—it’s continuous, collaborative, and built into the team’s flow. This advanced course develops the mindset, practices, and techniques to shape effective Agile test strategies, strengthen shift-left behaviours, improve test processes with meaningful metrics, and balance formal and holistic testing to reduce risk while keeping delivery fast.

Based on the ISTQB® CTAL-AT Syllabus v2.0 (2026), this course helps experienced testers and quality-focused Agile professionals deepen Agile Testing capability.

Course Overview

Agile test strategy and approach choices covers selecting appropriate test types during and after iterations, making end-to-end testing decisions, defining regression approaches, and balancing formal versus holistic testing trade-offs.
People and teams focus on enabling a whole-team approach, motivating business participation in testing, supporting developers, and using tissue testers to provide “fresh eyes” feedback.
Test management and improvement includes agile test planning for iterations and releases, effective monitoring and control, practical coverage-based reporting, and continuous improvement through meaningful metrics, including GQM.
Shift-left practices use testware as requirements, apply storyboarding and testboarding, run example mapping, recognise and manage bias, and slice user stories to improve testability.
Agile test techniques include exploratory testing using heuristics, mnemonics, and tours, creating effective test charters, and applying assisted testing approaches such as mobbing, pairing, and an introduction to AI-assisted “vibe testing”.
Test automation and tools address what to automate, how to align automation to the test pyramid, and which tools best support fast feedback in CI/CD pipelines.

Course Pre-requisites

Candidates wishing to participate in the ISTQB® Advanced Agile Tester (CTAL-AT) course must possess the ISTQB® Foundation Level (CTFL) certificate. This certificate is mandator for the CTAL-AT exam.

Practical experience in testing and/or Agile delivery is strongly recommended.
