“My career has grown tremendously in terms of being assigned to different projects in different industries using different technologies. I’ve learned new tools, processes and domains which improved my work portfolio.”
Kim Dingel, Engineer, Planit
Kim Dingel’s journey to Planit started while she was still working at her previous employer, HP. It was there that she met Planit Account Director, Judy McKay, who was also at HP at the time.
Judy left HP to help start up Planit’s Christchurch office. Kim also left HP temporarily as she went on her six-month maternity leave.
“Judy kept in touch with me while I was on maternity leave and convinced me to join Planit,” Kim says. “Long story short, I accepted the job offer at Planit and didn’t return to my previous employer.”
Kim initially joined Planit’s Christchurch office as a Test Analyst. She was promoted to a Senior Test Analyst a year later and now is an Engineer.
“My career has grown tremendously in terms of being assigned to different projects in different industries using different technologies,” Kim says. “I’ve learned new tools, processes and domains which improved my work portfolio.”
Kim has also been able to take advantage of Planit’s comprehensive and industry-leading training programmes. “Since Planit also provides good training for its employees, I was able to utilise the learning resources and able to get certifications out of it,” she says.
Since being with Planit, Kim has enjoyed the relaxed and friendly atmosphere of Christchurch office. The regular team lunches and catch-ups have led to a family-like work environment that makes the Christchurch office an enjoyable place to be.
“My peers are always supportive and helpful,” Kim says. “Be it work or personal issues, everyone's helping one another and they get to understand and listen to your concerns.”
Being based at Christchurch office means that Kim mainly sees the same familiar faces throughout the year. Fortunately, the EOFY and Christmas parties have created opportunities to meet with colleagues from the Wellington office and get to know them outside of the workplace.
This year’s EOFY party was particularly noteworthy for Kim, since she was awarded a Supernova award for her efforts during the year. “It was my first major award with Planit, which also happened to fall in my birthday month, so it was both a pleasant and unexpected surprise!” she says.
