“I was keen to join Planit after hearing good things about the company through friends. When I was offered a position at the Melbourne office, I was excited to be part of a consultancy that would let me work with different clients across varied domains.”
Gowri Ramakrishnan, Consultant, Planit
Gowri Ramakrishnan got the opportunity to start her technology career right after graduation with several US-based software developers in India.
“I was fascinated by the amount of research, innovation, collaboration and teamwork that goes into every product release,” she says. “Later on, I realised that testing was one of the few areas in an IT project that enables a person to gain a comprehensive understanding of the complete solution being delivered.”
After working several years in the cyber security space, Gowri relocated to Melbourne in 2012 with her husband. Keen to return to the workforce, Gowri began exploring the available career opportunities in QA.
“I was looking for a role that would let me hone my skills gained from previous roles as a software QA engineer,” she says.
When an opportunity came up at Planit’s Melbourne office, Gowri didn’t hesitate to apply.
“I was keen to join Planit after hearing good things about the company through friends,” she says. “When I was offered a position at the Melbourne office, I was excited to be part of a consultancy that would let me work with different clients across varied domains.”
Since joining Planit, where Gowri is now a Consultant, the main thing that stood out to her is how multicultural and inclusive the company is.
“This supportive work environment enables staff to not only serve the clients to the best of their capability, but also focus on their own career development through the extensive training programme that is made available internally, as well as opportunities to switch to other Planit disciplines,” she says.
Work-wise, Gowri has enjoyed attending classroom training sessions conducted by Planit in Melbourne, particularly the iSQI Certified Agile Tester course, which she describes as being “very practical in approach while also somewhat intense.”
“Most of the End of Financial Year and Christmas parties that I’ve attended have also been memorable, as they gave an opportunity to reconnect with other Planit staff whom I would otherwise not get a chance to meet while working at client sites,” Gowri says.
