Life at Planit: Jennifer’s Passion for Testing

 1 Feb 2019

Jennifer“There is a lot of opportunity and flexibility to learn, and grow at Planit, both personally and professionally. Managers are very approachable and make themselves available to everyone, regardless of their busy schedule.”

Jennifer, Test Consultant, Planit

Jennifer says she completed her engineering degree in information technology and computers somewhat reluctantly, since her original passion was architecture. Even so, she still decided to put her new degree to use, spending two years as a tester while in India before migrating to Melbourne in 2007.

“Not knowing the job market in Australia, I started looking for opportunities in the testing field where I got my start,” Jennifer says. “My search efforts eventually led to a call from Planit’s HR team Sydney inviting me to an interview, which I successfully passed and was offered a job at the Melbourne office.”

It was once Jennifer joined Planit that she says her interest in testing was piqued. Over a decade later with the company, Jennifer says the job remains interesting.

“Everyone’s passion in technology was so contagious, which led me to realise my passion too,” she says. “I also enjoy working as a consultant, as it allows me to experience different industries, and build upon my knowledge and skillset.”

As for what has kept Jennifer engaged at Planit, she points to the buddy program, social activities, and the wealth of online and instructor-led training opportunities.

“There is a lot of opportunity and flexibility to learn, explore and grow at Planit, both personally and professionally,” she says. “Managers are very approachable and make themselves available to everyone, regardless of their busy schedule.”

Jennifer’s favourite Planit memory was being part of the company’s internal conference where all staff got together to learn about Planit’s business and mingle with other colleagues.

“We had this Amazing Race type of activity that requires us to run around the Melbourne CBD on a lovely summer evening, frantically looking for and solving clues that eventually led us to a surprise cruise party,” Jennifer says. “It was such great fun that the memory is so fresh in my mind that it felt like it happened yesterday.”
