Januelle, Engineer, Planit

Januelle says he was always the “techy” guy in his family.

“My parents would typically ask me for help troubleshooting their technology problems,” he says. “So you could say that I’ve always had a knack for trying to fix technical problems.”

After working a few years in the manufacturing and retail industries in the Philippines, Januelle relocated to Sydney to explore new career opportunities. One such opportunity came up via his friend Evoanne, who is a Technical Testing Consultant at Planit’s Sydney office.

“It was through Evoanne that I heard about Planit’s Software Testing Bootcamp,” Januelle says. “She’d already been with the company for two years by that point and had nothing but positive things to say about it, so she urged me to give the bootcamp a try.”

Januelle joined hundreds of eager candidates for the 2017 bootcamp in Sydney. After days of information sessions, training, activities and exams, he was one of the lucky few to pass in April that year and begin his journey as a Planit tester.

Since then, he has been progressed from graduate tester to Engineer in Planit’s Digital QA Centre. The role has stretched and expanded his skills in digital testing across mobile and web as well as in data analytics.

“Working on so many interesting digital projects has been a great learning experience,” Januelle says. “I have developed a true understanding of the importance of delivering sites and apps of a quality that today’s customers demand.”

In addition to a wide variety in clients and projects to work on, Januelle has been impressed with the diversity of his team members and Planit as a whole.

“I’m always interested in hearing about people’s background and what drove them to testing,” Januelle says. “The very open and friendly atmosphere of the Digital QA team makes this type of mingling and cultural exchange possible, and since I’ve seen these types of interactions in other areas of Planit, it made me realise that it’s a part of the company’s values.”

In addition to several memorable experiences working on projects, the highlight of Januelle’s time at Planit was the 2017 Christmas party held on a showboat.

“That night was a really fun, since I got to see everyone from the Sydney office kicking back and having a good time,” Januelle says. “And let’s not forget the amazing night view of the Sydney harbour!”
