Computer engineering seemed like a very practical career to KClyn Benedicto, which is what led her to study it in college. It was once she graduated and started working in the IT field that she discovered cyber security and finally found her niche.

“Cyber security and technology have been evolving together, and continue to do so,” KClyn says. “I think this rapid pace of change appealed to my natural sense of curiosity and desire to know more about the latest and greatest things.”

KClyn came into contact with Planit through a referral from a friend who was already working for the company. While still in the Philippines, KClyn was able to carry out further research about Planit and eventually apply for a position.

“It was a giant leap of faith for me and required some courage, since working for Planit meant moving all the way to New Zealand,” KClyn says. “I felt both excited and anxious, since it would also be my first time living alone from friends and family.”

When the work visa application process became a bit complicated, KClyn was able to rely on Planit’s HR team to walk her through any roadblocks. “It was this exceptional level of support that further convinced me that I had made the right choice in joining Planit,” she says.

KClyn joined the Wellington office as an Engineer, Technical Testing, where she has already contributed to several projects for various local clients.

“I really enjoy working for Planit,” she says. “I’ve had the chance to use and develop my technical skills, as well as learn many new things from its culturally diverse environment.”

It is this diversity that not only stood out to KClyn, but also impressed her. “I find it really amazing that I get the chance to work, know and make friends from people of different nations,” she says.

It’s not all work at Planit, with social events held throughout the year to allow staff to unwind and sometimes see a different side of their co-workers. In fact, KClyn’s favourite memory is from her first Christmas party when she participated in the White Elephant gift exchange game.

“We had so much fun giving and taking Christmas gifts from one another without any clue of what we were getting,” she says. “It was a very simple social activity but it resulted in so much fun and laughter!”
