Planit Test Consultant, Abegail, has been interested in quality and process for as long as she can remember. Starting from childhood, her mother instilled the importance of completing all tasks, big or small, to the best of her ability and of a quality that she will be proud of. These habits would carry into Abegail’s career.

“From the beginning of my career, I would always end up mapping and sharing efficient processes for the tasks assigned to me, whether that be a simple checklist or guide on how to effectively do a task,” Abegail said. “Even as a developer, application support or customer relations manager, time after time, my attention to detail would get me picked as my project’s Quality Coordinator.”

Abegail was first introduced to Planit when the company ran its first Singapore recruitment drive in 2016. The unique opportunity to relocate to a Planit office in Australia or New Zealand was an attractive proposition and she immediately applied for a position in Sydney.

Since joining Planit, Abegail has continued to skill up and get further certified. In particular, she has been focusing on the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) to gain an understanding where testing can contribute on an enterprise level.

When it comes to being a successful tester, Abegail recommends building a solid relationship with the testing team, as well as the client. Since you will be working with them on a daily basis, there is both an opportunity to continually learn and provide valuable insight.

“Try to understand the problem that a project is trying to solve and the benefits that the client is aiming to achieve,” she said. “Frame your tests around those, create more effective test cases, and find an approach to execute those efficiently.”
