Now in its sixth year, the Planit Testing Index is an industry-wide benchmark for software development projects from across Australia and New Zealand. It provides a solid foundation for strategic planning, budgeting and execution of quality assurance activities in IT.

Over the coming year, we will be regularly releasing industry insights based on in-depth analysis of the 2012 Index via the  Planit Software Testing – Australia & New Zealand group on LinkedIn. Be sure to join the group and check-in regularly for industry facts and figures.

But before we delve deep into the analysis, we would like to provide some detail into the scope of the 2012 Planit Testing Index.

The 2012 Index represents over 10,000 software development projects from Australia and New Zealand, a new milestone for this industry-leading survey.

Planit Testing Index 2012: Respondents by Organisation Size

A total of 226 responses were gathered, with participants coming from a wide cross-section of organisation sizes, including a third of respondents coming from organisations exceeding 2,000 employees.

Planit Testing Index 2012: Respondents by Industry

The full range of sectors were also represented in the survey, with the greatest response coming from financial services (25 percent), software development (24 percent) and government (21 percent).

The geographical breakdown of respondents correlates closely with the amount of project work occurring across the region, with over half of respondents being based in either New South Wales or Victoria.
