Planit Software has scooped a top award from the American woodworking industry.
The Association of Woodworking & Furnishings Suppliers presented Planit with the Sequoia Productivity in Software Award, for its stand-alone Screen-To-Machine Center, at the AWFS Vegas Fair. The Sequoia New Product Awards are evaluated on quality, production impact, practicality, innovation and user-friendliness.
Planit won the award after opening up its S2M Center – the most powerful automated CAM solution in the woodworking industry – to be a stand-alone solution for any CAD user needing to get individual, or batches of, dxf drawings from screen-to-machine. Previously it was only available to Cabinet Vision and Cabnetware users.
S2M Center provides saw optimization, block nesting and TrueShape nesting, as well as output for drill and dowel machines, automated chop saws and haunching machines. Its powerful filtering and machine set functionality allows output to an unlimited number of machines simultaneously, while automatically generating real-time part labels, on demand part labels, pattern diagrams, tooling reports, saw time/cost estimation records and machine-ready G-code. This allows users to dramatically reduce material usage and labor costs by streamlining their manufacturing processes.
The judging panel of professional end-users, woodworkers and company owners selected S2M Center as the category winner because of the impact it has on the industry, its practicality and its uniqueness. It brings a new level of automation and practicality to woodworking, greatly reducing both programming time and the chance for errors, by streamlining the process of sending designs straight to computer controlled machinery instead of needing separate software applications for each type of machine.
Richard Chappell, Planit’s Director of Sales and services, says: “We’re extremely proud to receive this prestigious award. Planit strives to deliver first class software solutions for the American woodworking industry and this latest honor is fitting recognition of the hard work put in by our development team and product management.”
“We know we can buy any machine and Alphacam will not only be able to drive it, but it'll do exactly what we want in terms of effective design and quick and easy programming to cut complex shapes with complete accuracy.
Without Alphacam we wouldn't be as flexible as we are.”
