Planit to show latest releases of Edgecam and Radan at IMTS 2010

Manufacturers visiting Planit in Booth E-4030 at IMTS 2010 will learn how to reduce manufacturing costs, maintain consistent quality and work as efficiently as possible by utilizing Planit’s industry leading CAM solutions, Edgecam and Radan.

Edgecam, a powerful yet easy to use automated CAM software for solids machining, reads native design files from all major CAD vendors, retains original design intent through Automatic Feature Recognition (AFR), and supports everything from 2x milling and turning to complex 3x - 5x machining along with multi axis (single set up) mill and turn/mill machines.

Recently released Edgecam 2010 R2 is power-packed with productivity improving enhancements including performance and memory upgrades to speed up background processing for those using dual core processors. Background Processing allows multiple cycles to process simultaneously, resulting in reduced time to create the required tool path. Russell Franks, Planit CTO, states “It’s essential for our customers to create accurate tool paths and do this in the most efficient way possible, utilizing the latest technology. Tests prove the new Background Processing feature typically reduce tool path generation by up to 60%; this is a significant development for Edgecam users.”

Other enhancements include full support for angled head tools in Milling, extensive Thread Mill capabilities in Mill Turn and developments to the Trochoidal machining in the roughing cycle to deliver a number of additional benefits, including increased tool life and increased machining speed.

Radan, Planit’s premier solution for sheet metal fabrication, provides design (2D & 3D Solid Modeling), manufacturing (punch, profiling, nesting and bending) and production control (cost estimation, process management).

Radan 2010 R2 improves on Radan’s strengths in 2D and 3D Solid Modeling. Included in the extensive developments to Radan 2010 R2 is a new nest core, the engine behind Radan’s powerful Radnest software that ensures companies can maximize the utilization of costly materials by providing new strategies to help increase efficiency and flexibility. Olaf Körner, Radan Product Manager, explains  “the new nest core has proven to provide significant efficiency gains for customers. The new strategies provide enhanced results for a wide range of nested parts, while ensuring users can retain flexibility to suit their own unique manufacturing requirements. It’s this combination of high material utilization and flexibility that provides our customers with an extremely powerful nester.”

Additional enhancements include an advanced multi-sheet nester, improved CLS licensing and much more.

For the thousands of Edgecam and Radan customers, IMTS is an opportunity to learn even more ways to utilize the features in Planit’s industry leading CAM systems.  In addition to obtaining best practices and strategies for improving manufacturing processes, customers can extend their product knowledge through consultations with Planit’s highly skilled technicians, live demonstrations of the latest releases and technical support advice on the show floor.

Testimonials

Radan's powerful nesting software is just brilliant for keeping waste to an absolute minimum. It has saved us a lot of money through material utilisation --it would be impossible to squeeze any more parts out of a sheet when Radan produces the nest
