Discover the Secret of Improved Toolpath Creation

Visitors to IMTS 2010 can gain fascinating insights on improving productivity through the further automation of their CNC toolpath creation, thanks to Planit Edgecam and Radan Software.

As well as being able to see demonstrations of Edgecam, the market leading CAM system, along with Radan, in Booth E-4030, visitors can attend a presentation entitled “Leveraging CAD/CAM Automation,” from Planit’s Americas Regional Director Steve Sivitter.

A frequent contributor to industry magazines and journals, Sivitter is particularly passionate about the opportunities for companies to improve the automation of their manufacturing processes.  His presentation will feature a case study showing how a Texas-based oil field equipment manufacturer made significant productivity gains through tighter CAD to CAM integration which improved their CNC toolpath creation. Sivitter’s 40-45 minute talk at 3 p.m. on the fourth day of the conference (Thursday 16th September) will be followed by the opportunity for visitors to ask questions.

Planit’s presence at IMTS means visitors can learn even more ways of utilizing the features in Edgecam and Radan, which both have a history of helping companies take their business to the next level by improving productivity. In addition to Sivitter’s presentation, Planit’s technicians will be giving live demonstrations of the latest releases, showing best practices and strategies for improving manufacturing processes.

Edgecam generates efficient, sophisticated toolpaths and full CNC programs supporting everything from 2x milling and turning, to complex 3x – 5x machining, along with multi axis mill and mill/turn machines. Performance and memory upgrades in the latest release speed up background processing for those using dual core processors. This background processing allows multiple cycles to process simultaneously, resulting in reduced time to create the required tool path, typically by up to 60%.

A new feature in Radan is its improved nest core, which provides significant efficiency gains for customers by maximizing material utilization and reducing waste. The new strategies in the latest release of Radan 2010 R2 provide enhanced results for a wide range of nested parts, while ensuring users can retain flexibility to suit their own unique manufacturing requirements.

For the thousands of Edgecam and Radan customers, IMTS is an opportunity to learn even more ways to stay competitive by utilizing the features in Planit’s industry leading CAM systems.

Testimonials

Most of the other vendors simply talked a good story. But when I saw Jobshop in action for myself, I could immediately see it would fulfil all of our requirements. It covers everything from costing and estimating to the automatic generation of user-definable cutting lists and works orders, routings, BOMs, materials requirements, plan times, delivery dates and customer details; all in a fully integrated package.
